Governor receives final report W. Marlin and S. Wescot-Williams

    Harbour View – On May 20, 2012, His Excellency the Governor of Sint Maarten, drs. E.B. Holiday, received the final report of the formateurs W. Marlin and S. Wescot-Williams.

    The formateurs have accepted the commission to form a new government that has a majority in Parliament and that consists of Ministers who are committed to the promotion of the wellbeing of Sint Maarten and dedicated to jointly execute the governing accord “Working for the People”, agreed upon by the coalition partners National Alliance, Democratic Party and the three independent Members of Parliament, Frans Richardson, Patrick Illidge and Romain Laville.
    The formateurs have nominated the following persons for appointment as Ministers and Minister Plenipotentiary:
    • Mrs. Sarah A. Wescot-Williams, Prime Minister, also Minister of General Affairs
    • Mr. William V. Marlin, Minister of Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure, also Deputy Prime Minister
    • Mr. Roland E. Duncan, Minister of Justice
    • Mr. Roland S. Tuitt, Minister of Finance
    • Ms. Silveria Jacobs, Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports
    • Mr. Van Hugh C. de Weever, Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labour
    • Mr. Romeo F. Pantophlet, Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication
    • Mr. Mathias S. Voges, Minister Plenipotentiary

    Mrs.  Henrietta Doran-York, has been nominated for appointment in the position of deputy of the Minister Plenipotentiary.
    The vetting of the candidate ministers, the candidate Minister Plenipotentiary and the deputy of the Minister Plenipotentiary, carried out by the Security Service Sint Maarten and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, has not produced any data that could impede their appointment.

    The Governor has scheduled the appointment and swearing in of the Ministers and Minister Plenipotentiary on May 21, 2012 at 9:30 am the Governor’s Office. After the ceremony,  the Governor and the newly appointed Ministers will have the constituting meeting in the A.C. Wathey legislative hall.
    The newly appointed deputy of the Minister Plenipotentiary, Mrs. Doran-York, will take the oath before the Governor on May 22, 2012.
    With regard to Mr. W. Marlin and Mrs. S. Wescot-Williams, the Governor has expressed his appreciation for the way they have carried out their commission as formateurs.
