Working visit Governor Holiday to Sint Maarten Police Force

On Thursday July 29 , 2011, His Excellency Eugene B. Holiday paid a working visit to the Sint Maarten Police Force. This working visit is part of the Governor’s program to obtain a firsthand view of developments in the community. Previous working visits included amongst others the Milton Peters College in January, the Museum and the Library in April, the detention facilities in February and the Oranje School in May.

At the police station in Philipsburg the Governor was welcomed by Chief Commissioner of Police Mr. Peter de Witte. During a meeting with the management of the Police Force the Governor was briefed on the program Team Grootschalig Optreden (TGO) used to solve major cases. Thereafter the Governor was given a guided tour of the police station by chief inspector Rogers. Following the tour the Governor was shown three live demonstrations by the bike patrol, the K9 unit and the Arrest team (AT).  

The working visit ended with a presentation on the Plan of Approach of the Sint Maarten Police Force by Mr. Peter de Witte. The plan taking the challenges facing the police force into account describes the way ahead for the Sint Maarten police force in the upcoming years in terms of the mission, organization, capacity, training and police services. The Governor was particularly impressed with the demonstartions of the bike patrol, the K9 unit and the Arrest team and encouraged the management of the Police Force and the officers to continue unabatedly on their path working on the achievement of their mission to serve and protect the people and community of St. Maarten.
